About North South Group / Our Mission

Our organization was established by a group of people with extensive international development experience. We come from international agencies, NGOs, academia, and government. Our backgrounds as management specialists, educators, economists, epidemiologists, public health and nutrition specialists, and water and sanitation specialists, put us in a strong position to promote appropriate interventions to reduce poverty and vulnerability. We draw on a large pool of international associates, and our shared goal is to achieve lasting results through promoting innovative schemes, applying lessons learned, and bringing new thinking to poverty reduction strategies. Our aim is to address the lesser-known “causes of causes” of poverty and the factors that hamper progress. We focus on strengthening and empowering those who are the most vulnerable through: building local capacity; collaborating with clients, governments and non-governmental organizations; bringing key partners together; and demonstrating good practices for replication and scaling up.
